Daniel 3
Instructions: Make large name badges to put on each child (King, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Soldier # 1, Soldier # 2, Soldier # 3, Person # 1 in Crowd, Person # 2 in Crowd, Person # 3 in Crowd). They can act out this story as they read.
King: This idol of shiny gold is the greatest in the world! Everyone is to bow to this idol.
(Crowd bows.)
Shadrach: I'm not going to bow to an idol!
Meshach: Me either!
Abednego: I would only bow to the one true God.
(Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego go to the king.)
Shadrach: We realize you are the king and we are supposed to do what you say.
Meshach: But we will not bow down to an idol.
Abednego: Our God has said, "Don't bow your knee to anything; just worship Me."
King (angry): Soldiers! Come!
(The soldiers go to the king.)
King: These three men have disobeyed my command. Take them and throw them into the hot furnace.
Soldier # 1 (to Shadrach): Come with me!
Soldier # 2 (to Meshach): You - come with me!
Soldier # 3 (to Abednego): Follow me!
(Soldier # 1 throws in Shadrach. Soldier # 2 throws in Meshach. Soldier # 3 throws in Abednego.)
King (walks to furnace, looks in, face is puzzled): We threw three men into the furnace; now there are four. Everyone is fine. They are all waking around! (Shouts into the furnace.) Your God has saved you. It's time to come out.
(Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego come out.)
Person # 1 in Crowd: Look! All the men are okay!
Person # 2 in Crowd: They don't even smell like smoke!
Person # 3 in Crowd: God saved them all today!
